Dev slipped into the lesson, her dark hair rumpled. It wasn't bedhead... as such. She'd been up most of the night, insomnia keeping her awake as usual. It hadn't helped her plan to wake up early much. The mess of her hair was the accumulation of several days of barely brushing her hair.
Mine, we are us. If we are late once or twice it doesn't matter.
Cupith was acting feline-like, as usual. A cat thought it was the center of the world, and so did the cream, gentle as he was about it.
Actually Cu, it does. I don't fancy punishment detail for being late. Lets save getting in trouble for other things the girl replied, a hint of a smile touching her almost expressionless face.
"Hello sir. Sorry Cupith and I are late." Her tone was... blank, her voice expressionless. Depending on the listener, the tone could be construed as an insult. It occasionally amused the cream weyrling

"Weyrling Dev, you will clean the Latrine and the Dragonet Latrine for two weeks. For Lateness, Z'war I will find a tutor for your writing. You are excused from this assignment until you can write decently." K'nor was being very serious to the Weyrlings, he would make sure everyone in this room could write and read legibly for the essays he will assign.
**************************************************************************
K'it was wondering about why his father was having them write essays, he had never seen this side of his father. He then looked to the man who had hekoed to beget him, he was happy with Weyrling Training.

"An essay, sir?" T'rin coughed softly, the surprise and disappointment still apparent on his face. A writing assignment? Shards! T'rin hated writing- all that sitting still and too much thought went into it... Why did the Weyrlingmaster want something written?
It will be alright Mine, Byronth rumbled, Writing may be dull but I'll be the one doing nothing at all while I wait for you to finish.
You'll have Rhani to play with, T'rin reminded him. Speaking of the little Brown fire lizard, where was he now? Rhani usually tagged along whenever T'rin went somewhere. Ah well, he'd probably catch up eventually.

Dev inclined her head in acceptance, making no protest. Cupith took his lead from His, keeping silent. She moved away, quietly slipping among the few other weyrlings.
Mine, why did you take the punishment? You made no error.
Dev sighed softly. "Actually Cupith, I did make an error. Besides, if I protest I'm challenging his authority I'd rather do that when I'm actually in the right, lovey."

Z'war shot Dev a sympathetic look...he'd seen how hard the other cream was to get going places. Then he nodded to the weyrlingmaster. "Alright, sir."
Actually, he appreciated it...there was no sense him writing an essay nobody could read. He ran one hand along Muzith's neck, grateful the slightly smaller cream wasn't quite so...feline.

"Actually, Weyrling Dev I want to meet with you after this lesson. I want to speak with you about the reason of your lateness." K'nor had seen the rebelious look of his son and he knew there was something more to this than he knew.
Cupith, Mine will speak with Yours, but I want to know. Why were you and Yours late? Kintrath asked the Weyrling he was very curious about the reasons he was always like that.
**************************************************************************
K'it had indeed glared at his father he was not happy that his father had decided to punish someone for trying to do what they could.
Mine? Why are you angry? Chaamth asked His who shrugged and got back to thinking about the essay.

T'rin glared sulkily at the floor, the Weyrlingmaster had said nothing to him. Why did he want an essay? What could one write about the bond anyways? A bunch of sort, repetitive sentences really. He couldn't think of much for it.
Maybe he wants you to learn more about it with the essay Mine, Byronth commented with a surprising bit of insight. Maybe you can write about the trust and feelings shared, hmm Mine? About our bond maybe, and that could give you more ideas.
T'rin looked at the little Blue with surprise. I guess.

"Yes, Weyrling T'rin unless you have the same problem as Weyrling Z'war." K'nor smiled slightly hoping that the two weyrlings did not have the same problem. For if they did he would have to find a way to tutor not one but two weyrlings he didn't want that.

Z'war just looked embarrassed. This would remind everyone that the cream weyrling had been a drudge before he was Searched.
Such things were supposed to be forgotten. But with the uncertain status of the cream riders...he actually wondered if one should consider the creams to be mutated browns and the blacks mutated blues...blacks were smaller than blues and creams smaller than browns, but...

"Oh no," T'rin shook his head. He could write legibly at least... although everything else about what he wrote probably wouldn't be all that good. "Byronth says he'll help me anyways, I think we'll be alright." He tried to act happier about the idea now- if only to avoid having the Weyrlingmaster mad at him for complaining. Byronth rumbled happily.
Our essay will be the very best. Byronth assured His.

Yay! They were all LATE! Okay, well, either way they were late. Malin, C'rick, and Zenniel made their way to the place wherever this is, and arrived... late. "Sorry, sir!" Cried Zenniel (though 'cried' here means somethign along the lines of yelled), "Heh?" Said C'rick, and Malin just stared at K'nor's dragon. Poor Malin.
Akkika came in a little later than the other three, and frowned. "Oh my, I'm late. I'm sorry, Upendith just told me that there was a lesson today."

The menacing sky glowered down at the luckless weyrling and the woman who knew only the increased wind and the charge in the air to indicate a storm coming. How appropriate. "Go away," she said, tonelessly, her body turned slightly away from the weyrling, trying her best to ignore the protests that she knew to be imminent. "But, 'Renne..." The answer did not change. "Away!" This time more urgently, as though her resolve were wavering. But in her face, set in a hard mask of indifference, was a different story. A'tair could not ignore her wishes in favor of his own. And yet, as he walked away, he looked back just once. She was holding herself, her arms wrapped around her body as though they were the only things keeping her from falling into a million shattered pieces.
A'tair! A'tair! A'TAIR!!!! Startled, A'tair looked up at where the brown dragon stood, his tail lashing impatiently but his eyes whirling a worried yellow. What? I'm here, all right? I have only tried to talk to you for ten minutes. You were thinking about it again. What? Oh. That. I was, wasn't I? Yes, you were. You need to stay now, not go back to then. It is not good. And besides, we have to go to lessons now. I think we are late. LESSONS?! Why didn't you tell me sooner?! Romeoth chose not to respond, but followed amiably as his over-stressed rider made his frantic way to the area where lessons were supposed to be held, pulling on his shoes as he went and hopping along on one foot when he had to tie them. There was no I-told-you-so, no reprimands, no jibes about how his distraction had made him late, only a quiet understanding. Until, of course, he had to face the weyrlingmaster's wrath, which he had heard to be remarkably... remarkable. Sheepishly, his face suffused with pink at his own idiocy, he crept into the lessons, not hoping to not be noticed, but simply not to be publicly reprimanded. He did not wish to be a bad example for those who were ten Turns younger than him and more.
Can you not go faster? What if they punish me as well? I do not want to have to do something stupid, like fly in a wing with blues or some such thing! Felina simply pointed to Gatzby, who followed slowly behind them, sniffing at every rock he came to. Which was a considerable number, the size of the weyr and its composition taken into account. He's old. Have some pity. But he cannot come to the lessons anyhow! And we will be late! Again, she pointed to Gatzby. I don't care. He doesn't like to be left alone very often, poor dear. I'll leave him where we're still in sight. It was true. She left the aged canine with the cataract-marred eyes near the lessons, still in sight even for one half-blind, but far enough away to avoid the weyrlingmaster's wrath. Which may have been a good thing. She didn't care about punishments. Which was a good thing, because he seemed to be nearly apoplectic with rage. How many people had come late to lessons?, she wondered. Well, it didn't matter. She, Hearth, and sort-of Gatzby had gotten there in their own time.

K'nor saw four Weyrlings come in late, he sighed and looked to them he waited for all them to apologize for being late and waiting for their reasoning for being late. He wanted a good reason for being late, he wanted a reason for their not being here other than being late for a lesson about this it was very important.

Cupith yawned innocently at Kintrath. Mine could not sleep until early this morning. Therefore she overslept. He sounded as if this was a totally reasonable thing, and as Dev had always lain awake for at least a few hours after the lights went out for all his life, it was.
Dev gave the weyrlingmaster a sharp, jerky little nod, saying nothing. Her dark eyes were expressionless, but inside she vibrated with a tightly reined in anger. She melted back into the crowd of other weyrlings, a blue flit popping out of between over her head and chittering softly at her as she moved away from the bronzerider.

"Now seeing as I'm going to speak with Weyrling Dev, I want all five of you to meet with me so it is fair on you all." K'nor then looked at them, he wondered a moment then he thought of an excercise about the bond one that had been done with his class.
"Now kids want to do something fun? I have thought of a way to tighten the bond you have with your Dragons." K'nor then looked at the kids hoping this would help them become more adept at their focusing with Dragons.
************************************************************************** K'it looked at his father and he wanted to hit him harder than ever before, the man was arrogant and pompous! He wanted to take his own father down a few notches and teach him that being a Weyrling was harder than it looked it was no easy task.
MINE! You can not think such thoughts! Chaamth told his as the Dragons eyes flashed red and orange in fret over His doing something stupid.
