Where did you hear about Castaway Weyr? On the All The Weyrs listing.
- Name: Shaeyn
- Age: 23
- Gender: Female
- Rank: Gold-rider
Physical
- Hair: Brown, to her shoulder blades, and slightly wavy, usually worn in a bun at the nape of her neck.
- Eyes: Bluey-green
- Height: 5'5"
- Weight: 130lb approx.
- Defining characteristics: None really.
- Anything extra: Surprisingly short, for all that she's her father's daughter (and he's 6'4" ish), Shaeyn stands at 5'5" in her bare feet and tends to have to look up to most people. Lightly built, with a sort of delicate look about her, Shaeyn generally seems a very unimposing adversary - her eyes though, bluey-green in colour, are fierce and at times hard, and are probably the first warning of the person inside the delicate outer appearance. She's pretty, there's no doubt about it, just so long as you like the type who tends towards arrogance.
Lightly tanned, with hair that changes from light to dark brown throughout the year, and is naturally wavy, many people have underestimated Shaeyn over the turns, based on her looks. Her expression is regularly one of fixed disinterest, and she worked hard on perfecting that look, however when the situation requires it Shaeyn can smile politely and batter her eyelids to get her way.
Shaeyn dresses practically, in a manner that makes her look brisk and efficient but doesn't hinder her beauty as work clothes could. Blacks and Browns tend to make up the most part of her wardrobe, as they don't show the dirt so much, but she had got other colours in her wardrobe as well - clothes she inherited from her mother and her sister's on that side before they died. Since coming back in time, she's not made a big deal about getting these colourful clothes replaced, although she has conceded she will need a proper gather dress at some point in time.

- Personality: Shaeyn is typically haughty, stuck-up and arrogant. As far as she's concerned she knows she is better then a fair portion of the inhabitants of Pern, and impressing Nysaeth did little to improve this point of view. Out of choice, Shaeyn would never associate with - say - a drudge or other serving type woman, but if she needs to for the "benefit of the Weyr" she will. Getting her to spend time with them on a social level however, it's not ever going to happen. Ever. Its the same with most things with Shaeyn, if she thinks something or someone is beneath her she'd do it, or associate with them, but only because she needs to. She'll not be happy about it, and if she can get away with it she'll make the point known with an icey glare and a hostile silence.
Which said, Shaeyn's not a bully. At no point in time has it even been, or will it ever be, possible for her to be considered being one. Quite frankly, she refuses to lower herself to that level. She doesn't need to bully someone to feel good, she's quite happy with herself the way she is - and woe be the person who tells her they think differently.
As a candidate, Shaeyn was one of those girls who expected to impress Gold. A Brown or Blue were, of course, other possibilities but not as far as Shaeyn was ever concerned. As for a green - we won't even go there. Which said, she's never openly criticised a green dragon, as a candidate, or make common the knowledge that she believed herself worthy of a gold and nothing less - why would she? That would just be setting herself up for hours of ridicule if she had impressed a green. Not something she would have appreciated in the slightest.
Shaeyn is full of drive, full of ambition, and has the intelligence to do basically anything she pleases, but at the same time she has another quality that has proved invaluable - patience. She can wait out, and endure alot, if she decides that in the end waiting will provide her with an advantage - she's wait. Quite what advantage she was waiting for when she decided to refuse search until she was 19 is anyone's guess. - Family: Daughter of the [obviously much loved] 'future' Weyrlingmaster D'dyn, and a now deceased Green-rider Shari. She had numerous half siblings - on both sides, and had a younger full-brother. None of which she really feels worth talking or thinking about. They are all still in the future, obviously, and most of them are deceased.
- Pets: None
- History: A Weyrbrat born and raised, Shaeyn was unlike many rider-bred children actually quite close to her green-rider mother. Shari doted on her daughter, and spoilt her as a child. A vain woman since becoming a rider (after a life as a serving woman, the rank change affected her badly), Shari brought her youngest daughter up to be the same, and taught her arrogance from a young age.
With her mother's death however, Shaeyn spent a few turns at the nearby Hold with her mother's sister, and if anything her attitude took a step up and she became more arrogant then ever. When she returned to the weyr, those few people of the Weyr who remembered her from before, and remembered the moments of humility she'd experienced once or twice, soon forgot them in the face of this new tougher, harder, un-grieving young woman.
In her absence, a number of her siblings had fallen to thread or left the Weyr in pursuit of other non-dragonriding careers, and as such when she returned she and her father (Brown rider D'dyn) became closer - the last of her local relatives, Shaeyn and her father had never been close before, but a sort of kinship grew up between them afterwards and the brown-rider influenced much of her later teenage turns - teaching her many of his morals and beliefs, deliberately or not, in the turns between her mother's death and when she finally accepted search.
Impressing on her first attempt of standing, Nysaeth obviously did nothing for Shaeyn's humility. Now as well as thinking herself more 'important' then many of the lower-classes, she actually was more important. Or at least higher ranking, even Shaeyn can recognised the value/importance of the lower classes.
The jump between times, occurred when Nysaeth was about four turns old - a free afternoon had landed her helping out her father with the weyrlings flight lessons, it was just pure luck - or pure bad luck that she was the only rider airborne when Kevia and Saeryth took flight. Fearing for the safety of the goldrider, and the recently flown queen she rode, Shaeyn and Nysaeth made the snap decision to follow Kevia in her leap between (Nysaeth taking the co-ordinates from Saeryth at Shaeyn's request). Loosing the future not one, but two, adult golds.
- Dragon name and color: Nysaeth, gold
- Dragon age: About 4
- Dragon personality: Not as arrogant as her rider by any means, Nysaeth quite enjoys the conversations she can have with other dragons - she prefers her bronze and brown 'friends', but she isn't as discriminating in regards to blues and greens as her rider might be. It is exceptionally rare, however, that she ever talks to a human other then Shaeyn. It has been known, but to date those 'suitable' few have extended as far as Shaeyn's father (on one occasion), and the bronze wingleader Shaeyn was a little fond of back home, who she spoke to a couple of times.
