Where did you hear about Castaway Weyr? …Zennial
- Name: Ala
- Age: 20
- Gender: Female
- Rank: Lower Caverns Woman
Physical
- Hair: Thick and black, like her older brother’s, but much longer, reaching almost to the small of her back. Ala has mastered putting her hair up into a tight bun, useful for keeping it out of the way while she works, so that is how it usually is.
- Eyes: A clear cerulean blue, lined with thick dark lashes. Always a curious person, Ala’s eyes seem to glow with her wonderment over nearly everything.
- Height: Like her brother, Ala is tall, about 6’3”.
- Weight: 125-ish
- Defining characteristics: Tall and well-shaped, Ala has a little fat on her from a habit of eating a lot of her own cooking, but isn’t at all overweight. At a glance, one wouldn’t notice and she can get away with wearing tight-ish clothing and still pass as thin. Her hands and feet are large, especially against her comparatively small ankles and wrists.
Ala’s face is overall long. Her nose is chiseled and thin, her eyes large, her eyebrows thin and arched. Her full lips are almost always curved into a smile.
Extra
- Personality: Ala is an outgoing and cheerful person, very little can dampen her optimistic mood. She is also never one to pass over a chance for a joke or getting herself or others to laugh. A full believer in the ‘laughing makes you live longer’ philosophy, her goal is to live to be 100- at least. If she’s lucky, it will be longer. If she falls short of her goal, Ala plans on being very disappointed and hopes that someone will find a way to bring her back from the dead so she can finish it up.
Cooking is definitely what Ala is best at, and she enjoys it to the fullest which is a good thing. She knows some very, very basic things about healing, taught by her father, but rarely has a chance to use them. If she were to end up helping out in the infirmary, it would probably be to try and cheer up patients, not heal them. Ala is quick with hands and mind, but there are some things she simply isn’t all that interested in and medicines is one of them. But if asked to help, she will agree, as she does with most things.
Her falling point is probably dragons, fire-lizards, and whers. Her whole life Ala has been fascinated by them but never had a chance to Impress anything but a flitt. Despite that, she is basically content with her little Bronze. But every chance she gets, she helps out in weyrs or dragons themselves. Whers have never liked her, so Ala has learned that it is basically best to avoid them. They aren’t, in her opinion, as pretty or interesting as dragons anyways. - Family: Sorri-Mother-50; Tor-Father-52; A’vic-Older brother-26-Blue Rider
- Pets: Bronze Flitt Vir
- History: The first twelve years of her life Ala spent in her parents’ home. For her tenth birthday she received a fire-lizard egg, who hatched into the bronze Vir and he has been her pride and joy ever since. In the home, Ala was a helper. She learned to cook from her mother and has always had a certain talent for that, and ended up helping out with a lot of cleaning so she’s learned to be an organized person too. Outside of it, she was an explorer. Adventures were what her life seemed to lack, and so she did her best to create them for herself. A’vic, the dullard, usually preferred not to accompany her.
When the Green dragon arrived at her house when Ala was twelve, she decided then and there that her life was going to be changed by that dragon and its rider. Most of what she decided on ended up, in some way, coming about. When the rider mentioned that A’vic would make a good Candidate but said nothing about her, she felt heartbroken.
And then he refused. There was her chance again. She suggested being taken in his place, surely she would make a great dragonrider! But the Green decided no, she would not. A’vic would, but he didn’t want to go. Ala begged to at least be allowed to go to the Weyr, begged A’vic to agree so that he could come back and take her there someday… and finally Ala prevailed. A’vic agreed to go if his little sister could come too. And so she came to the Weyr with her brother and has enjoyed her time there since.
Ala’s talent with cooking was quickly discovered, so most of her time is spent in the kitchens, preparing meals for all the Weyrfolk. In her free time, she visits A’vic and Yaphorath or makes friends with whoever she happens to pass in the halls as she travels from place to place in the Weyr. She still longs for adventure and does her best to find it, or make some for herself, but has a harder time doing it now with less free time on her hands.
But someday, Ala has decided that she will find some great adventure to carry out. Along with living to 100, her life won’t be complete without it.
