Eleventh Pass, Turn 2
Northern Continent, Nerat Peninsula
Selas Weyr stood on a precarious precipice with the destruction of its former Weyr, but now with the Senior Queen grounded on the brink of death, the trials for the newly established Weyr are far from over.
They began the Eleventh Pass as refugees, fleeing from a Weyr that literally crumbled upon them and now with the advent of Threadfall once again upon Pern, the people of Selas Weyr are feeling the burden of tragedy. The Conclave was called upon to deliver unto them a savior, another queen to replace the Senior that had died in the wreckage, and High Reaches delivered with Gold Rhaeath and her rider, Ahnia. Heavily pregnant and unable to handle the burden of the stress of rebuilding a Weyr from the ashes, Weyrsecond Sacyna of gold Haeleth gave up the opportunity to become Weyrwoman, but even her sacrifice was not enough to stop Rhaeath’s painful accident. The Threadfall charts were incorrect, the wind was too strong, the riders were ill-prepared…all the excuses in the world didn’t stop Rhaeath’s wing from nearly being detached from her body and pulling the Senior out of the skies…some say for good.
Weyrleader J’sin has called the elders of Selas together and Sacyna has been named Interim Weyrwoman until her queen rises in earnest and claims the title in her own right. But with Thread falling above their heads and only one fertile queen that has already risen for the Turn, things seem rather dark for Selas Weyr.
Just over the horizon, those things are known only too well within Northern Point Prison Hold. Lord Vesparian is a harsh task master and the people locked within the hold know the brutality of his power. If nothing is done and the Weyr keeps a blind eye to the going’s on of the cruel Vesparian, who knows what indignities will occur. Calora Hold’s Lord, Esquival, keeps an acute eye on the man and any favoritism of any sort from the Weyr will result in war…will there be no hope for the inmates of North Point?
Through the turbulence of Selas Weyr, it seems like former junior queen Haeleth is beginning to glow, the stressors of Pern pushing her cycle to an abhorrent degree. It is not natural and Sacyna will just have to watch after her proddy queen to see what will occur.
The winner of her flight will become the new Weyrleader of Selas Weyr---and with that victory comes the long battle of picking up the pieces of the destruction with Sacyna. Will healthy eggs be the result? She has already produced so many this Turn and there is no telling what the results will be…and will Rhaeath survive her ordeal?
All these questions and more can be answered at Selas Weyr! We have just opened and are looking for literate and creative members to help build up Selas Weyr history. We are an alternative Eleventh Pass Weyr where AIVAS was never discovered. Women may Impress greens, golds, blues, and even browns, although the latter is still rare. The destruction of Lavaen forced weyrfolk and riders alike to clamber into a half-built weyr, so greens, blues, and browns are forced to double-up in a roommate situation.
Although the people of Selas are currently unaware of this, the new clutch will boast within it many surprises, including a queen egg. With the opportunities to Impress a queen, be a part of a hatching that will change Pernese history as the people know it, and the opportunity to grasp the Weyrleadership, we hope to see you as part of our game and our history.
