Purple
- Sex: Female
- Length: 17-22 metres.
- Wingspan: 20-28 metres.
- Colour: From light to dark gold, including yellows. Always metallic.
- Impresses: Only heterosexual females.
- Other: Only a gold dragonrider can become Weyrwoman. Gold dragons will lay clutches of between 15-30 eggs. Normally caught by a bronze dragon, but may on occasion be caught by a brown.

Bronze
- Sex: Male
- Length: 15-20 metres.
- Wingspan: 18-26 metres.
- Colour: From light to dark bronze. Always metallic.
- Impresses: Only heterosexual males.
- Other: Bronzeriders may become Weyrleader if their dragon catches the Weyrwoman's. Only a gold x bronze mating will result in a gold egg.
Brown
- Sex: Male
- Length: 13-18 metres.
- Wingspan: 16-24 metres.
- Colour: From pale sandy colours to rich, dark chocolate.
- Impresses: Can impress either male or female; tends to choose heterosexuals.
- Other: A brown dragon may catch a gold dragon on occasion, but the clutch will be small and there will be few bronze eggs, and no gold egg. A brownrider may become Weyrleader if his dragon catches the Weyrwoman's.
Cream
- Sex: Male
- Length: 13-16 metres.
- Wingspan: 16-24 metres.
- Colour: From almost white to smoky, black-tinted colours.
- Other: Cream dragons will only rise to chase green or purple females, they do not have the stamina to compete with the bronzes and browns in gold flights. They are extremely rare.
Blue
- Sex: Male
- Length: 11-16 metres.
- Wingspan: 14-22 metres.
- Colour: From pale blues to navy.
- Impresses: Can impress either male or female.
- Other: Blue dragons will only rise to chase green or purple females.
Green
- Sex: Female
- Length: 9-14 metres.
- Wingspan: 12-20 metres.
- Colour: From light yellowish greens to dark, evergreen shades.
- Impresses: Can impress either male or female.
- Other: Green dragons rise to mate frequently, however they are infertile. They can be caught by any male dragon.
Black
- Sex: Male
- Length: 7-12 metres.
- Wingspan: 10-18 metres.
- Colour: From dark ash grey to jet black.
- Impresses: Can impress either male or female, but prefers males.
- Other: Black dragons will only chase green or purple dragons, but are unlikely to win in a green flight. They are very rare.
Purple
- Sex: Female
- Length: 5-10 metres.
- Wingspan: 8-16 metres.
- Colour: From pale lilac to dark amethyst. They tend to have a bronze-like sheen to their hides.
- Impresses: Will only impress females.
- Other: Purple dragons can be caught by any other male, though blue and black pairings are more frequent. They rise to mate two times a turn, at most. Clutches are not always certain, though they can lay anything up to 10 eggs per clutch. They do not chew firestone.They are extremely rare.
