Such a vast body of water... It was so alluring, so soothing, so... Tempting for the female to not get in it!
"Bonzai!!"
The sixteen turn old chirped happily, jumping from a nearby foundation of rocks that loomed close enough to the deeper part of the beach. The area wasn't too deep, though it was enough to allow the lass to jump in a cannon-ball like fashion and hit the water without getting any injuries on herself. Most of her clothes were at the shore, some faded green colored trousers and a light brown shirt - along with her wher-hide boots. She was currently wearing a white sleeveless shirt and some cream shorts. The clothes on dry land was the one she planned to change herself later into after she finished swimming about in the lake.
Sure, back home there had been a river, useful for agriculture and passing a good time, but nothing compared to this massive lake. Content she drifted about, floating on the surface. Reddish brown eyes were fixed on the sky above and the shifting clouds. The Rukbat was beginning to slowly make its descend - meaning the sun rays weren't so strong and she wouldn't have to worry - but it was still rather early. Probably a couple of hours or before sunset arrived.
"Mmm... This is relaxing. I needed a break after catching that blasted wherry anyway."
Today Nayza had been helping about in the lower caverns, and she had the task of getting the wherry the woman would prepare for dinner. Sure, she liked chores like that - but catching those bird brains was a pain. After chasing it about for fifteen minutes the huge lump of feathers actually jumped the fence and dashed throughout the Weyr. It took her half hour or so to finally knock over and kill the thing before she brought it to the kitchens. Then came the task of plucking out the feathers and seasoning the meat. Finally she had finished ten minutes ago and dashed to get an extra set of clothes. The beach had been 'calling' out to her ever since the morning, and today seemed like the perfect day to just relax in the cool waters. Besides, she needed a nice rest after all the work out that bird had given her.
"And people wonder why I don't like wherries... They're lucky they're welcomed in my dinner plate 'cause they taste so good. You'd think she'd remember after five years..."
Ever since she had been searched for the last hatching, Nayza had remained at the Weyr. She'd grown acostumed to it -- and fond of the way things went. Plus, her father had allowed it, seeing as his child seemed so happy about it.
"Mmm... Five turns... And tat Green still says I'm a good Candidate. Really, maybe she just bumped her head too hard on her egg shell when hatching..."

There was always something that Pi found enticing about the beach on a bright day like today. With the sun up and the skies thread-free, Miracath and herself had decided to take some time off and rest. Gliding over the edge of the bowl, they made lazily spirals down towards the cove, with the small purple dragon landing a little way off from Nayza.
Pi dismounted and removed her dragon's straps, and grinned as her lifemate took to the air and flew out over the waves, diving playfully down once she was at a suitable depth. And then the girl's attention was turned to Nayza.
With a cheery wave and a bright "Hello!" the rider stripped down to her bathing clothes before jumping off the rocks and into the waves.
"Nayza! How you doing?" As she resurfaced, Pi swam over to the candidate, all bright smiles and sodden pigtails.

She recognized Rider and dragon way before thye landed, Miracath's hide being the only purple one around the entire world of Pern. With a bright smile she watched the dragoness land, before go off and give herself to the waves. She had clutched before Capricath -- but, much like Green fire lizards, had left them in the sands. At least the Queen guarded over them and her own now. Actually, the flights couldn't have been better timed -- otherwise Capricath would have surely not allowed Miracath in to clutch, and that would have been a problem.
"Nayza! How you doing?" "Hey Pi!"
Watching the girl swim over to where she was, Nayza gave a large grin, waving back excitedly. Five turns... Shards, she knew everyone around here that wasn't new by now. Then again, the place was big, so there was bound to be people she didn't knew. Pi, however, wasn't one of them. They had been Candidates five turns ago, along with Myr, but they had impressed. Nayza hadn't. Still, the seventeen turn old didn't hold it against either -- she got to help out bathe their bonds occasionally, and no major responsibilities... Yet. 'Hopefully I will, eventually, impress...' The prospect of a life time bond, a being who knew you inside out, was a soothing one -- and Nayza wanted to share that, submerge herself fully into that fantasy world that was of the DragonRiders and them alone.
"It's been a while -- chores kept me busy. But I've been good. And you? How have you and Miracath been?"

"We've been super - once we got over the whole shock of her laying eggs, that is. No, correct that... once I got over the whole shock of her laying eggs! Can you believe it?" Pi giggled, ducking under the water again so that she could easily brush her hair back from her face.
"I hope they'll hatch, because it'd be a shame if they didn't... but what colours do you think they'll have in them? Do you think there'll be any new ones?"

”We've been super - once we got over the whole shock of her laying eggs, that is. No, correct that... once I got over the whole shock of her laying eggs! Can you believe it?” ”I can only imagine! That was a shock for the whole Weyr! You think it was because a Bronze caught her, or maybe she’s able to reproduce like the Golds?”
The female was content to float about the water surface as she listened to her friend speak, giggling lightly at the mental image. Pi’s shock face would have probably been priceless, too bad Nayza had been stuck in chores at the time of the clutching to see it. She did thought she’d seen the Purple gain some weight – but no one in the Weyr would have guessed it was because of that, of all things!
” I hope they'll hatch, because it'd be a shame if they didn't... but what colors do you think they'll have in them? Do you think there'll be any new ones?” ”Well, I’ll be standing to try for them and Capricath’s eggs, so they have better hatch! And you know, I didn’t think of that. She is a rare color... I mean, what other Purple dragon do you know? Maybe she’ll have another Purple? Like Golds with Queen Eggs? I suppose maybe a Black should be there, at the least – though I do wonder if she’ll lay any high ranks. Maybe it’ll be a completely new color based clutch, even! Could you imagine the look on Myr and the Weyrwoman should something like that happen?!”
She was excited, no doubt about it, at the thoughts. A Purple’s clutch... The color was still so brand new and unknown, who knew what more surprises she’d give the Weyr when those eggs hatched!!!

"You think it was because a Bronze caught her, or maybe she’s able to reproduce like the Golds?”
"I really don't have a clue, Nayza," Pi said, shrugging her shoulders. She looked over to where Miracath was frolicking in the waters, and shrugged again. "Who even knows if it'll happen again? And I'm going by the fact that green firelizards don't lay gold eggs, so I'll bet she doesn't have any golds... I'll bet there aren't even any bronzes, either, even though she was caught by a bronze. But if they're all funny colours... well, that'll really be something. I wonder what it is that makes them change colour? I heard someone say that it could be something in the sand here, maybe it's contaminated or something."

”The... Sands? Mmm... Could be, I suppose it is possible... Aren’t hatching grounds connected to hot springs underground? You think maybe the vapors have something to do with all of this? I mean, Southern was basically still being explored and stuff... And it’s the only part in Pern with those grubs that eat thread. Maybe it’s all connected... Who knows?”
The female was lost, drifting around as she floated, engulfed in her thoughts. She’d been so busy as of late, she hadn’t given the matter much thought since the time Miracath and the Blacks had hatched. It really was a strange thing, there was no such records of anything even remotely similar in the library either – and Nayza knew, she liked to read the records she could access.
”But I bet there has to be at least one Purple in there, even if the rest turn out to be the usual colors. Think about it, it’d be like Golds with Gold hatchlings – only Miracath could be laying Purple hatchlings. I Bet by Faranth’s shell that there just has to be a Purple in there. Maybe a Black, too?”

Pi frowns as she thinks, her arms working slowly just to keep her in place against the gentle tide.
"You know how it smells funny in there? I think that's got something to do with it. Like how the acidity of certain soils affects the colour of some flowers, you know? Maybe it's got something in it which alters the colours, because if you think about it, black and purple are kinda like shades of blue... but then it'd have to change the sex too, since Miracath's a girl, not a boy... hrm. I dunno, I can't figure it out."
Shrugging, she looks back over to Miracath, and the purple dragon ducks beneath the water and swims towards the two girls. The purple dragon anchors her hind feet to the sea bottom, and raises a foreleg so that Pi can sit on it, the upper part of the girl's torso out of the water as she leans back against Miracath's chest.
"I hope there's another purple or black out there, because that would mean that this isn't just a freak accident. And if we've got more purples, and they're able to lay clutches, then maybe we'll be able to get back up to full strength and take over the Northern Continent again..."

” You know how it smells funny in there? I think that's got something... ... then it'd have to change the sex too, since Miracath's a girl, not a boy... Hrm. I dunno, I can't figure it out.” ”It really is a hard mystery to solve, though I see where you’re coming from. Perhaps the scent does have to do something; maybe it caused a hormonal imbalance while the Gold was pregnant? Which could have resulted in a couple of eggs having different colors, and thus having Blacks and Purple dragonets? I mean, the records to speak about a White dragon once... Maybe it’s the same thing now?”
This was fun; Nayza always enjoyed discussing some matter with a close friend – and this was such a delicate, yet absolutely stunning and intriguing topic. She wondered jus how where the Weyrleaders dealing with this, had they been doing any research? She’d gone to the archives, but couldn’t find a trace for a reason – the only similar case being that recorded about Ruth, a White dragon from many, many turns ago.
” I hope there's another purple or black out there, because that would mean that this isn't just a freak accident. And if we've got more purples, and they're able to lay clutches, then maybe we'll be able to get back up to full strength and take over the Northern Continent again...” ”Well, whatever the cause and reason for the new colors, no one can deny we do need more clutches. And if Purples can clutch like Golds, well, this just might be the miracle we needed from Faranth to happen. Now, the problem is if they will always clutch, or if it is seldom. Also, what colors will they produce, could she have even more new colors? And, what about firestone? Would it make her infertile if she took it? If so, Purples would either have to ride in the Queens’ wing, or have one or no clutch and then be introduced to firestone. Mmm... This really is complicated. Maybe the Hatching will give us some more clues? I do hope so.”
As Miracath appeared Nayza gave a grin to the dragoness in greetings, swimming over before reaching out slightly – though she allowed the Purple to chose if she anted to be petted by her or no.
”Hey there, Miracath. How are you?”
And for a moment, she wondered just what did the clutchmother thought about this whole issue.

Miracath lowered her head to snort softly on Nayza, her eyes whirling a pleasurable turquoise, like the sea.
"She says that she's fine," Pi said, passing the message along. "And she can't chew firestone... she spat it back up, like this goopy grey paste stuff, so I've got to ride with a flamethrower. I'm kinda glad though, because firestone stinks, and you can just never seem to get the scent off their hide or their breath afterwards - it's almost worse than numbweed."
"And the eggs? Well, we'll have to wait and see. Myr was saying that she reckons Capricath's eggs are close to hatching, so Miracath's must be, too."

The female grinned, a hand delicately scratching the lilac eyeridges of the dragon before her, a smile on her face. Miracath was so sweet. As Pi gave her the answer from the dragoness, Nayza gave a nod, nefore continuingto listen to what the other had to say.

Well, then maybe they are meant to clutch as well. Wow, so strange... And yes, firestone can be stinky”
She chuckled softly at Pi’s words as she mentioned draw-backs of firestone. She’d helped clean dragons before, and after Thread drills the stench of smoke and those rocks was horrible. Why, it took all they had and more just to get one of the smaller dragons to stop reeking with that foul stench – imagine some of the higher ranks. Queens and Purples were lucky, they got to use flamethrowers.

"Yeah, she just spat it back up. It was horrible, thank goodness it was outside so I didn't have to clean it up."
Pi shrugged, stroking a hand down Miracath's neck. "Well, we'd best be getting back. We've got wing drills in a while, and we've got to be dry for them... can't be going between when we're wet, of course." Sighing, she slipped off her dragon's foreleg, and Miracath headed towards the shore, shaking herself in a canine-like manner when she got there. Her rider remained floating beside Nayza for a few moments.
"It's been nice chatting, Nayza. And best of luck with the eggs, I'm sure you'll impress." And with that, she offered a fingerwaggle before swimming to shore, picking up her things and flying with Miracath back into the Weyr proper.
OOC: Thanks for the RP! I'm being very slow though, so I thought it only fair to wrap this up so Nayza can move one.

((It's alright/ :3))
"Yeah, I know what you mean. I must be getting back as well, got a few chores left."
The female watched Miracath swim to shore, shaking herself dry in a very canine like fashion, before her Rider finally said good bye. "Thanks. Hopefully you are right, and my bond is in there somewhere." Following behind Pi, Nayza also arrived at the shore, waving to the duo as they flew into the distance. Well, time to get back to the Headwoman, and finish those chores...
