300 turns ago, AIVAS gave the dragonriders the knowledge to banish Thread from their lives for good.
55 turns ago, it came back.
A depleted dragonrider force went out to meet it, unprepared, untrained, and terrified - of the 232 who left the Weyr, only 102 made it back.
Ista Island, the first to suffer the consequences of the unexpected menace, was destroyed. The Weyrleaders of the two remaining Weyrs, Ista and High Reaches, along with the Lord Holders, decided that leaving the Northern Continent was the only option they had left, if they were to stay alive.
A mass exodus followed. Over the next turn, the North was evacuated, with everyone moving to the warmer, grub-protected Southern Continent. The Lord Holders re-established themselves, and the weyrfolk found the perfect location for their new home - an extinct volcanic island, which they named Castaway Weyr.
While the diminished wings still rise to meet Thread to strengthen their defences against the age-old menace, things haven’t been going so great. An illness has taken over the Weyr, a mutated form of firehead, and while it hasn’t been lethal in most cases, the Senior Weyrwoman succumbed among a few other riders. This leaves the Weyr without proper leadership – who will rise next to secure the position?
And to top it all off, the desperate situation was eased somewhat by the random appearance of two goldriders who managed, somehow, to go between times and turn up in the past, at the present day Castaway Weyr. One is egg-heavy, while the other is believed to rise soon… possibly to become the new Weyrwoman. How will the Weyr’s residents react to this stranger possibly taking over, rather than the Castaway-bred Myr, who they expect to take up the leadership?
Castaway Weyr is recently opened, and is looking for players who want to explore new avenues and dimensions of Pernese roleplay. We’ve got new, rare dragon colours (black and cream males, purple egg-laying females), some of which will be available in the upcoming double clutch. So come on by, join in this friendly community, and get playing!
