G'ryn nodded slowly. "And where exactly are you from?" He knew of no other Weyrs than Castaway- could there possibly be dragons hidden away? That seemed so utterly unlikely. But G'ryn was confused and couldn't think of any other possibilities.
It is good that they are here though, isn't it Mine? Rorth looked down at him uncertainly.
Yes, queens are always good. In their usual untimely manner, Wave and Kess popped from between as G'ryn spoke, appearing in a flurry of noise and movement above his head. Rorth gave a snort of surprise and G'ryn immediately ordered them silent and to his shoulders. The Goldriders looked wary and who knew what would cause them to jump back to wherever they came from. The two Blues noticed the queens as they landed and immediately began chirping excitedly to each other about that. G'ryn gave an exasperated sigh while Rorth tried not to rumble.

There was a brown on the shoulder of Kevia. He chirped back to the blues. The goldrider frowned. "That's rather complicated..." A pause. "We're from...*this* Weyr."
Either the past or the future. She leaned towards the latter, because the Weyr hadn't been founded so long that they wouldn't have been recognized, or at least heard of, if they were from the past. Her brown lifted off and circled once, then settled onto Saeryth's neckridges. He did not seem to want to go far.

I don't think we have anything to fear from this brown, mine, Nysaeth stated as she looked the brown up and down.
Indeed, Shaeyn agreed with a tiny nod, but keep you're attention on him all the same she asked silently of the gold as she took the opportunity to look around them to see if there were any other dragons or riders on their way to greet them. At the same time looking for anything that might give them a better clue about whether they were in the past or the future.
"How many turns since the Weyr was founded?" Shaeyn asked of the brown rider at length. It was obvious that they were going to have to explain the truth sooner or later, and so skirting around the bush was pretty pointless - they might as well just get directly to the point - and well... if Kevia disliked her tactics, then the other goldrider would just have live with it.

G'ryn scratched thoughtfully at his chin with thumb and forefinger. From this Weyr? Something was definately up. Rorth seemed confused too, and could come up with nothing to say either. Both Blue flitts paused in their conversation to greet the little Brown fire-lizard, but immediately fell back to chattering to each other. From the way they were looking at the third member of their kind though, it seemed they were expecting comments from him too.
"How many Turns?" G'ryn hrmed and glanced at Rorth for help. "Around fifty I think, maybe fifty-two, fifty-three..."
I believe it is fifty-three Mine. Rorth put in helpfully. A little late maybe, but G'ryn gave the dragon's shoulder a thankful scratch and looked up at the Goldriders.
"Rorth says it has been fifty-three."

Kevia glanced at Shaeyn. That settled it. They were in the past.
And she could not risk taking Saeryth back to the future, not egg heavy as she was. And she realized...this must have been kept quiet. Covered up so it would not...not affect anything. Now she regretted having given her and Saeryth's real names. Softly. "I can't risk the trip back...the eggs..."

The brown-riders words did indeed confirm it, until that point Shaeyn had not fully accepted that it wasn't possibly just a bit of a mix up - however, it couldn't really be denied any longer could it? They really were in the past, and Kevia's words confirmed that she too knew that another trip between couldn't be risked.
Well, first things first, Shaeyn decided, talking to Nysaeth as well as herself, Would you tell Saeryth that we will be staying also, it is our duty to protect Pern - and we can do more good here, then in the future, the goldrider swept her gaze around the weyrbowl again, taking in the far smaller number of dragons visible. Two extra queens in such an under filled Weyr could be a very useful asset. Ask if Kevia ever heard whispers of a gold in the past with Saeyrth's name?
Mine says we are staying also, and asks if your's ever heard whispers of you having taken the name of another when you hatched? Nysaeth, for her part, wasn't as concerned about the whole situation as her rider was - She was a queen, this was a Weyr, why would they not be welcome?
As Nysaeth relayed her message, Shaeyn turned her attention to Kevia and the brown rider again. "We need, I think, to see your Weyrwoman, as soon as it can be arranged." Her tone hinted that she saw no reason why that shouldn't be immediately.
Mine believes it best we tell their Weyrwoman the whole truth, it will be her decision ultimately that permits us to stay or not... and what should be said to the Weyr when we are asked, Nysaeth added to Saeryth, saying privately what Shaeyn did not wish to say aloud in the brown riders presence.

G'ryn exchanged a look with Rorth. The Weyrwoman had just died... they didn't have one.
We have to tell them, Mine. Rorth sighed.
"Er, we don't have one." G'ryn frowned. "She died just recently, caught by a bad Threadscore when she was sick too... So right now Myr is leading, but she's not quite Weyrwoman. I, uh, don't think she and Capricath really want to be..." He shifted uncertainly. What would the riders think of them for that? He still couldn't quite figure out where they had come from- they said Castaway but that couldn't be right. "I suppose you could talk to her."

Kevia glanced at Shaeyn. "The next gold to rise, and it won't be Saeryth."
Of which she was glad. She knew herself to be a better junior and breeder than she could be a senior, but it had to be said. If she was senior, she wouldn't have time for chatting with the candidates, for one thing. "If we...stay...we should talk to this Myr."

Kevia's thoughts weren't entirely mirrored by Shaeyn at the brown riders words, infact, if anything they were probably viewed in totally the opposite way. Her Nysaeth was soon to rise, and she said indicated as much to Kevia with a nod to her gold guessing the other goldrider would know what she meant. She, however, while happy as a Junior could see herself being equally content, if not more so, as Senior Weyrwoman. She liked to see things done properly, and while being a Junior Goldrider gave her some say, she recognised the advantages she'd have as Weyrwoman - and the extra workload didn't bother her either, she had been working to be ready for it since the moment she'd agreed to stand.
It also kind of decided her on whether she stayed in the past or not. She had been considering staying perminantly, and also considering staying until Saeryth's eggs hatched and then going back - but if Nysaeth rose in the meantime, she wasn't going to make the Weyr Weyrwoman-less for the second time in so short a time... So, it sounded like she was staying pertinently.
I like it here, Nysaeth added, and Shaeyn laughed at the gold quietly, Here is just the same as the future here is, she informed the gold, who just shrugged.

"Yes..." G'ryn was still very confused. Rorth could be of little help as he felt the same, and Wave and Kess couldn't talk so excited as they seemed, they couldn't explain anything. Judging by the lack of anything they were sending Theirs, it seemed the pair were quite caught up in their own conversation anyways. "Myr is probably at her weyr..."
I suppose we should show them the way then... Rorth murmured. His next words were to the Golds. Come with us.

Kevia had not descended. Timber chirpled to the other firelizards, seeming quite unconcerned by the situation.
I follow, Saeryth agreed to the brown.
Kevia could not assume that the layout of the Weyr was the same. It had undoubtedly changed in however long it had been to cater to the increased number of riders and dragons. Which might...well, no.
They had already been here. That was how it worked.

Rorth and his rider are going to take us to Capricath and her rider's weyr, Nysaeth informed her rider, as she shifted her wings against her sides, tucking them properly against her sides. She was still ready to open them again suddenly if needed, but she was far more relaxed about the whole situation then her rider. They couldn't spend their whole times watching their backs, the gold stated quietly to her rider, before with a slight nod to the brown she unknowingly repeated Saeryth's words almost exactly, -We follow.
[OOC: Pi said she was going to try and reply when she could - maybe we should either leave this thread hanging until then (and get on with other new ones), or wrap this one up, and let Pi start a new one if/when she wants to?]
