"It's fine." A'vic laughed. "I haven't seen a queen who likes the Candidates at first. But the hatchlings do." It seemed to him that most Golds were reluctant to give their eggs to people. Not that he had seen many, but he had seen enough clutches to come to that conclusion.

Yaphorath bobbed his head. Getting nagged by queens was nothing new. He could find good Candidates.

Kevia nodded. "It's natural...they want to protect their eggs, and Saeryth is particularly broody." A pause. "She just wants what's best for her children, like any mother."

Saeryth warbled to the blue, apparently satisfied, then shifted her bulk. She would lay fairly soon, Kevia knew, and be much more physically comfortable for it.

"Yeah." A'vic nodded slightly. "How much longer should it be before she clutches?" This was something he normally would somewhat know, and it looked like Saeryth was definately close to clutching, but he had no idea when she had been flown... or by who and what.

They are still a mystery to you? Yaphorath turned his head to eye his rider.

Are they not to you?

I stopped worrying about it. He twisted his great neck again to turn and purr assuringly to the Gold. There is a spot at the base of my neck that itches a little.
